Cutanea has assembled an experienced leadership team that brings extensive expertise in business, dermatology, drug and device development and product commercialization to our company. The members of this team share a commitment to developing novel therapies for the treatment of diverse skin conditions in areas of unsatisfied aesthetic and medical need.
Robert J. Bitterman - President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director - Robert J. Bitterman joined Cutanea in September 2005 as its President, Chief Executive Officer, and a director. From September 2004 until April 2005, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Isolagen, Inc. ("Isolagen"), a publicly traded international bioscience company possessing a proprietary technology for application of human autologous fibroblasts. From 1994 until 2004, Mr. Bitterman served as President and General Manager of Aventis Global Dermatology (f/k/a Dermik Laboratories), the global dermatological strategic business unit of Aventis S.A., where he worked on numerous commercial product launches in the U.S. and other strategic international markets. Prior to assuming senior operational leadership positions, Mr. Bitterman held various positions of increasing responsibility in financial and commercial capacities within Aventis S.A. Also during his tenure with Aventis, Mr. Bitterman was responsible for constructing and managing an operating joint venture in the People's Republic of China. Mr. Bitterman holds an A.B. degree in Economics from The College of the Holy Cross and a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University. He is a member of the Woman's Dermatology Society, the Derm Foundation, and the Philadelphia Business Leaders Network. He also holds a Doctor of Human Letters (Honoris Causa) from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Kimberley Forbes-McKean, Ph.D. - Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer - Kimberley Forbes-McKean, Ph.D. joined Cutanea in October 2005 as its Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Forbes-McKean has broad technical and managerial experience gained from over 20 years in a variety of multi-cultural environments in various areas in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. From September 2004 until July 2005, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Science Officer of Isolagen, Inc., a biotechnology company working to develop their proprietary technology on human autologous fibroblasts. Dr. Forbes-McKean has held various research management positions at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, and Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals (f/k/a/ Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Aventis). During her 14-year tenure with Sanofi-Aventis, Dr. Forbes-McKean assumed positions of increasing responsibility. From 2000 to 2004, she was responsible for all aspects of global dermatological product development, culminating with her role as Vice President of Dermatological Product Development & Commercialization of Aventis Global Dermatology (f/k/a Dermik Laboratories). During Dr. Forbes-McKean's tenure, Aventis gained approval to launch six new drug products and a novel Class 3 medical device in the U.S., E.U., and other parts of the world. Dr. Forbes-McKean holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Union College in Schenectady, NY and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, MA. She supplemented her academic graduate experience with an internship at Merck, Sharp and Dohme Research Laboratories, completed research projects for other pharmaceutical companies during her thesis work, and was recognized with a Merck Research Fellowship Award.
Jennifer Phillips, Pharm.D. - Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs - Jennifer Phillips, Pharm.D. joined Cutanea in July 2006 as its Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, and has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. From September 2005 until July 2006, Dr. Phillips was a regulatory affairs consultant. From November 2004 until September 2005, Dr. Phillips was Director of Regulatory Affairs at Isolagen, Inc., where she was responsible for the submission of documents to regulatory agencies to support the development and marketing of a human autologous cellular therapy product. From November 2000 until November 2004, Dr. Phillips was the Director of Regulatory Affairs with Aventis Global Dermatology (f/k/a Dermik Laboratories), where she was responsible for the development of regulatory strategy for several investigational dermatological drug and device products, and for regulatory compliance of Dermik's marketed products. Prior to her employment with Dermik, Dr. Phillips was employed with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where she was responsible for womens' healthcare products and was the principal regulatory affairs analyst for promotional campaigns. Dr. Phillips received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill ("UNC") and completed a fellowship program entitled, "Clinical Research and Drug Development", sponsored jointly by UNC and the Burroughs Wellcome Company. She also holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
Linda M. Mahoney - Director of Scientific Operations - Linda M. Mahoney joined Cutanea in November 2005 as its Director of Scientific Operations. Ms. Mahoney has over 20 years experience in the health science industry. From October 2004 until September 2005, Ms. Mahoney worked as Director of Project Management and Product Development at Isolagen, Inc., where she was responsible for management of a team of scientists conducting product and packaging development studies and process improvement projects for a sterile biological device product. From 1999 until 2004, Ms. Mahoney served as Senior Manager, Project Management and Director of Project Management and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Aventis Global Dermatology (f/k/a Dermik Laboratories), where she lead the Project Management and Pharmaceutical Sciences Departments. Prior thereto, while still employed with Dermik Laboratories, Ms. Mahoney worked on numerous products from concept through to commercialization. Ms. Mahoney received her A.B. in Chemistry from Lafayette College.
Susan Moran, RN, MSN - Director of Clinical Operations - Susan Moran, RN, MSN joined Cutanea in January 2006 as its Director of Clinical Operations. Ms. Moran has over 20 years experience in various areas of the healthcare industry. From October 2004 until December 2005, she was a Senior Manager of Medical Affairs at Isolagen, Inc. From August 2000 to October 2004, she worked as a consultant to Clinical and Medical Affairs and as a Manager of Scientific Communications and External Training at Dermik Laboratories. From July 1992 until January 2002, Ms. Moran also worked as a clinical scientist and marketing consultant at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Prior thereto, she worked for seven years as a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University, with over four years in the Department of Plastic Surgery. Ms. Moran received her BSN from Carlow College and graduated from Villanova University with her MSN.
